The Caring Burn, Vol. 5

The Caring Burn, Vol. 5

Have you ever purchased a candle, and wondered why it didn’t last as long as you’d hoped? We’re here to help. This installation of “The Burn” blog focuses on how to take proper care of your favorite candles. Let’s take a look at a few steps that you can follow to ensure your candles burn to their full potential.

  • Make sure your candle has an even first burn. When you finally light your new candle for the first time, try to allow the candle time to evenly melt before extinguishing the flame. This will help lengthen  your candle’s lifespan and prevent “tunneling” of the wax during future burns.
  • Regularly trim the candles wick. According to RealSimple.com,  it is recommended to keep the wick no more than 0.25 inches above the wax. Regularly trimming your candle’s wick can help it reach its full burn potential.
  • Keep your candle away from windy areas while burning it. If the candle is exposed to wind, the gusts can cause the candle to burn unevenly, and will diminish the life of your candle.

These are just a few things you can practice everyday to help improve the life of your candles. There are countless ways to make sure you get the most use out of your candles. We’ve included a link below that provides more information on the above listed tips, and many more!
